A normal pregnancy is divided into three stages. Each stage is called a trimester.
In each trimester there are changes that occur in both a mother and her child. You will be able to read later on about these
changes, but first here is a brief overview on each of the trimesters:
- In the first trimester, the organs and systems in a fetus are formed.
- The second trimester is when the fetus begins to grow in both size and in
the development of its features.
- The third and final trimester is a time of rapid growth and the ending of
the child’s feature growth. This is the trimester in which a mother is finally able to give birth.
Each
trimester has a certain time range. These are:
Þ First Trimester: 0-13 weeks
Þ Second Trimester: 14-28 weeks
Þ Third Trimester: 29-42 weeks
